FAQs

You’ll probably have questions, so I’ve answered some of them here.
If yours isn’t here, don’t worry. Just get in touch and I’ll provide an answer.

How do I prepare for my session?
Getting a good night’s sleep, staying hydrated, and avoiding excessive alcohol the day before, these are all great tips for arriving at your headshot session ready to look your best.
I'm just not photogenic!
Everyone is photogenic. So, when someone says they’re "not photogenic," I believe they’re usually judging themselves based on a photo that’s missing most of these essential ingredients that a professional studio has to offer. Trust - a beautiful camera & lens, flattering lighting, composition, colour, direction, tips and tricks of the trade and the list goes on. .Once those come together, magic happens.
Should I have my hair and makeup done professionally?
In the past, most of my clients have preferred that I assist with their hair and makeup. They bring along a selection of products, and I also provide some. I do recommend purchasing a good quality foundation. However, if you’d prefer to have your hair and makeup done professionally at the start of the shoot, I can help arrange for a freelance artist. Payment to them will be separate.
How should I pose during the session?
I’ll be on hand to guide you through the poses, teaching you techniques and tips & tricks of the trade.
Can I bring a friend or family member to the session?
Your session is meant to be a personal experience, so I recommend attending alone to help you stay focused.
How do I choose the best photos from my session?
After the shoot, you’ll relax with a selection of healthy food and refreshments while we have fun reviewing your images. I’ll guide you through the selection process to help you choose the cream of the crop.
Who does the photo retouching and what does it involve?
I personally retouch your images, assessing every tiny detail. If anything is distracting, it gets removed. Temporary blemishes, stray hairs, and more are all addressed to ensure the focus remains on your expression. All images are optimized for brightness, color, and contrast.
When do I receive my headshots?
The typical turnaround time for delivering your chosen high-resolution digital files is eight days after the shoot. Any additional shots will require extra time. If you’re working with a specific deadline, let me know, and I will do everything possible to ensure you receive your images on time.
Where is my studio located & Parking?
My studio is located in Hove, East Sussex, on the seafront. It’s a 10-minute walk from Hove train station, or a 3-minute cab ride. Alternatively, it’s a 7-minute cab ride from Brighton station. There are direct buses available, and if you’re driving I'll provide a free parking voucher.
