FAQs

You’ll probably have questions, so I’ve answered some of them here.
If yours isn’t here, don’t worry. Just get in touch and I’ll provide an answer.

How do I prepare for my session?
Getting a good night’s sleep, staying hydrated, and avoiding excessive alcohol the day before—these are all great tips for arriving at your headshot session ready to look your best.
What if I'm not photogenic?
Everyone is photogenic. When people don’t look good in photos, it’s usually because they feel uncomfortable or nervous. I’ll guide you through the process to ensure you're relaxed, and you’ll find that you enjoy it. If we take a picture you don’t like, we’ll simply delete it!
How long is a photo session?
One full-day dynamic photo session. The day is yours, with no time limits. I like to remove the pressure of time from your experience, so I only schedule one booking per day. You can stay as long as you like—people have even stayed into the early evening, as time just flies. I recommend a minimum of six hours, and it’s best not to have any pressing plans afterward so you can feel completely stress-free.
Should I have my hair and makeup done professionally?
In the past, most of my clients have preferred that I assist with their hair and makeup. They bring along a selection of products, and I also provide some. I do recommend purchasing a good quality foundation. However, if you’d prefer to have your hair and makeup done professionally at the start of the shoot, I can help arrange for a freelance artist. Payment to them will be separate.
How should I pose during the session?
I’ll be on hand to guide you through the poses, teaching you techniques and tips & tricks of the trade.
Can I see the photos during the session?
Yes, absolutely. We’ll review your images as we go to make sure you’re happy with the results, and we can make any necessary adjustments on the spot.
What kind of backgrounds do you use?
I’m known for specializing in white, grey, and black backgrounds, and I like to use all three during your session.
Can I bring a friend or family member to the session?
Your session is meant to be a personal experience, so I recommend attending alone to help you stay focused.
Do you take headshots for teenagers?
Yes, I take images for teenagers aged 16 and above. This can be for various reasons, including coming of age or celebrating exam completion.
How do I choose the best photos from my session?
After the shoot, you’ll relax with a selection of healthy food and refreshments while we have fun reviewing your images. I’ll guide you through the selection process to help you choose the cream of the crop.
When do I receive my headshots?
The typical turnaround time for delivering your six chosen edited photos is eight days after the shoot. Any additional shots will require extra time. If you’re working with a specific deadline, let me know, and I will do everything possible to ensure you receive your images on time.
How do I receive my photos after the session?
I provide high-resolution digital files. If you would like prints, I can recommend quality printing services or handle the printing for you at an additional cost. This includes unlimited licensing of your images for your personal use.
How do I book a session?
Whether you’ve met me by chance, seen my work, or been recommended by a friend, you can access my online calendar and book a complimentary, no-obligation connection call. This call typically lasts around thirty minutes, sometimes longer, depending on how much detail you feel comfortable sharing with me. I’ll have several questions to ask you to gauge how you feel about being photographed. At this stage, I’m just looking to understand what you want from this experience.
Where is my studio located & Parking?
My studio is located in Hove, East Sussex, on the seafront. It’s a 10-minute walk from Hove train station, or a 3-minute cab ride. Alternatively, it’s a 7-minute cab ride from Brighton station. There are direct buses available, and if you’re driving, I can provide you with a free parking voucher.
If you have any questions about the day’s experience, let’s chat! Feel free to reach out — I’d love to help with your purchase!
